Job Title: Assistant Coach
The Role: 

We are seeking a Group Fitness Instructor/Personal Trainer that is career oriented and service minded.  This role involves coaching both adult and youth group fitness classes.  This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth of a small team and be involved in a close-knit fitness community and family.  We pride ourselves on providing an exciting, fast-paced, and growth orientated work environment where your opinions and suggestions matter!

What Does It Take To Work At ASP?

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and motivated Trainer that is available to join our team on a part-time basis to begin. They will be a team player who is observant and attentive to the needs of clients and eager to build and develop relationships with current, new, and prospective clients.  This individual will have excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills, be capable of explaining and demonstrating varying group fitness programming in a clear and concise manner, and most importantly provide a motivating and inspiring atmosphere for clients. 

Tasks We Need You To Perform: 
  • Create a positive, encouraging, and fun atmosphere throughout group and private training sessions and be attentive of when to adapt coaching style and gym environment to appropriately reflect differing clientele.

  • Deliver a comprehensive fitness program for clients.  You’ll receive coaching and training on our fitness programs but you will be expected to deliver them in a fun, enthusiastic, educational, and supportive manner. 

  • Demonstrate proper exercise instruction and coach clients to perform exercises in a safe manner. You should have a working knowledge of the human body and be able to suggest appropriate exercises for client’s goals. 

  • Enthusiastically promote and market programs, events, and various other gym related promotions. 

  • Exercise modifications and regressions when appropriate and to accommodate for various skill levels. 

  • Open and close facility and assist with other routine tasks to ensure the facility is maintained in a highly clean, organized and presentable fashion.

  • Provide on-going health and fitness education to clients on various topics that will empower them to lead healthy lives.

  • Perform fitness evaluations to test for body composition, body weight, girth measurements, and various strength and flexibility tests.  You do not need previous experience, but if you do, that’s a bonus! 

Minimum Requirements: 

These are the skills and experience you must already have in order to qualify for this position.

  • You must be Reliable, Punctual, Professional, and Responsible.  Think positive, not reactive. 

  • Awesome personality, sense of humor, infectious energy and positive outlook.  You must LOVE working with people and be comfortable showing your clients energy and excitement while working with them. 

  • Good communication skills.  You must be comfortable conversing in-person and on the phone to clients in a professional and clear manner. 

  • Customer service experience and a high service standard.  Our clients are the lifeblood of our business and we need our employees to have a WILL DO attitude when it comes to empowering and assisting our fitness family. 

    • Provide a friendly and welcoming environment for current and potential clients. 

  • Flexible for scheduling and available to work on a shift basis including covering early mornings, evenings, and weekends.

  • Availability to lead 5-15 sessions per week. 

  • Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Exhibit confidence in leading group fitness classes of varying sizes and styles. 

  • Ability to supervise large groups to ensure movements are done safely and effectively, and be attentive in correcting individuals regarding proper form. 

  • Provide constructive and encouraging support to assist clients with reaching fitness-related goals. 

Preferred Requirements:

If you have these additional skills, your resume will go right to the top of the stack (but if you don't have these skills, you should still apply because they are not mandatory.

  • 1+ years experience as a group fitness instructor. 

  • Knowledgeable in areas of human physiology and anatomy. 

  • National Certification in personal training and/or group fitness instruction or currently working towards nationally accredited certification. 

    • NSCA, ACE, ACSM, or NASM certified or are currently working to obtain one;

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an exercise related field is preferred (Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Biomechanics etc.);

  • CPR/AED Certification and capable of providing First Aid services if required. 

  • Experience working in an entrepreneurial environment is a plus.
